Nick Wey's PR Race Report Dallas

Recapped By: Pat Schutte - OMS Sports

IRVING, Texas (April 20, 2002) - Team Moto XXX's Nick Wey raced to yet another top ten finish (10th) at Round 14 of AMA/EA SPORTS Supercross at Cowboy Stadium in Dallas on Saturday. With the performance Wey remained in the top privateer spot for the overall points chase, four points ahead of rival Heath Voss.

After a heat race crash that saw Wey battling with the top guys on the tour, the rookie 250 rider blazed back, winning his semi race. Then, in the main event, Wey was a victim of circumstance in a major first turn pile-up and had to battle back for much of the race - eventually settling on a hard-fought tenth overall.

"I just didn't get the start I needed," said Wey. "I got caught up in the middle of a big pile-up and twisted my knee a bit. I also had some mechanical problems with the bike and was only able to race back to tenth place. I definitely had the speed at Dallas to run with the guys up front."

Wey went on: "We'll fix the bike and my knee will be good by Saturday. I'm looking forward to Salt Lake."

This weekend Wey and the Moto XXX team travel to Salt Lake City for Round 15 of AMA/EA SPORTS Supercross. Said Wey on the altitude at Rice-Eccles Stadium: "I know I'm in good shape, so maybe I'll have an advantage there."
