Mechanical Issue Plagued Wey at Hangtown

Recapped By: Pat Schutte - OMS Sports

SACRAMENTO, (May 18, 2004) - Team Suzuki's Nick Wey overcame a broken gearbox in moto 1 and a poor start in the second moto to salvage a ninth place overall finish (9/11) at the 36th annual Hangtown Classic - the opening round of the 2004 AMA Chevrolet Motocross Championship.

"I pretty much ran the entire first moto in third gear," said Wey. "My RM 250 was running great all weekend and I was definitely one of the fastest two strokes out there. In the second moto I started way back and was able to work my way back close to the top ten. Not the greatest start of the national season I've had, but it could have been worse. This will be easy to build on."

Wey and Team Suzuki have the weekend off before traveling to Mt. Morris the following weekend for round two of the nationals.
