Nick Wey Pleased With Unadilla

Recapped By: Pat Schutte - OMS Sports

ANAHEIM, Calif., (July 19, 2004) - The Team Suzuki rider overcame a mediocre result (10th) in the first moto to finish strong in the second moto (6th) and score a solid eighth place overall finish at Unadilla on Sunday - which was also the second highest placing for a two stroke on the four stroke-friendly GP style track.

Wey, who's currently in seventh place overall in the standings, actually improved upon his finish last year at Unadilla (19th).

"Dilla is a tough track for me," said Wey. "I had a pretty spectacular wreck here earlier in my career and just haven't faired that well on the GP style courses here in America. So I was actually pleased with my effort."

Wey's starts also pretty much dictated where he'd finish. "I rode smart, consistent and didn't take that many chances. I had some good battles within the race and was pleased I could keep Suzuki's two stroke motor up towards the front (with all the four strokes)."

This weekend Wey and Team Suzuki travel to Troy, Ohio, for Round Seven of the Outdoor Nationals.
