A Fifth Place Second Moto Nets Nick Wey a 7th Overall at Washougal

Recapped By: Pat Schutte - OMS Sports

ANAHEIM, Calif. - Team Suzuki's Nick Wey had one of his best races of the year, topping teammate and former GP World Champ Sebastien Tortelli in an exciting finish in the first moto, then racing to a fifth place finish in the second moto to place seventh overall at Washougal, Round Eight of the 2004 AMA Chevrolet U.S. Motocross Championships.

"I worked on a few things with my dad last week and was able to overcome a not-so-great start in the first moto, and took advantage of a good start in the second moto," said Wey.

Wey and Team Suzuki have this weekend off before returning to action the following Sunday at Millville's Spring Creek MX Park. Noteworthy is the fact that Millville is the site of Wey's lone Outdoor National win ('99).

"Yeah, Millville's definitely got special meaning for me," said Wey. "I had a couple top ten finishes there last year (8-10) and had the best non-factory racer finish. I'm feeling good, racing well and look forward to attacking those whoops on my RM!"
